Harold G. Lund, 82, of Fremont died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Oakland to George and Mary Jane (Evans) Lund. He grew up in Oakland and graduated from Oakland High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Feb. 9, 1944, and served aboard the USS Little in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II and was discharged on June 1, 1946. He returned to Oakland after the war and then moved to Fremont and was employed at the former Campbell Soup Co. for 30 years.

He married Shirley (Hoover) Hooper on Nov. 3, 1965, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Jim Hooper (and wife, Cindy) of La Vista and Robert Hooper of Castle Rock, Colo.; a niece, Marsha Flanders (and husband, Roger) of Omaha; a nephew, Michael Eggers of Great Bend, Kan.; a great-nephew, James Flanders of Arlington, Va.; great-niece, Katie (and husband, Chris) Luerkens of Bellingham, Wash.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Fern Eggers.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont with military honors by Fremont Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.
