Fred J. Burt, 89, of 12960 Appleton Road, Croton, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Heartland of Centerburg, after a brief illness.

Born September 13, 1916 in Goodrich, Mich., he was the son of the late Dr. Frederick Joseph Burt and Leona Belle Steele Burt. He married Marlene M. Neuman Burt on March 3, 1991 and she survives. He was previously married to Barbara Shelton Burt and she preceded him in death in 1989.

He was a graduate of Adelphia Academy in Holly, Mich. and he attended Southern Missionary College in Tenn.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, was a member of the Hartford Village Seventh-day Adventist Church. He retired in 1984 from the Medical Bureau in Columbus.

Surviving are his one son and daughter-in-law, David and Sheila Burt of Middletown; one daughter, Carol Ann Nickell of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters, Emily MacRuadh of Blaine, Wash and Barbara Baumann of Madison, Wisc.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Burt.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005 with Elder Roger Nelsen officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
