It is with a sad heart that I post the passing of shipmate Warren Bunck.

Warren Joseph Bunck
(April 6, 1922 – September 16, 2017)

Warren Joseph Bunck, 95, of rural Everest, KS died early Saturday morning at the Mission Living Center in Horton, KS where he had been a resident since June 2017.

Warren was born April 6, 1922 on a farm north of Everest to Joseph and Christina Salveson Bunck. He grew up in Everest and graduated from Everest High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of WWII. Warren married Marjorie Monson June 6, 1945. They made Everest their home. She survives.

He farmed for 20 years prior to working for the United Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1983. He attended the Christian Church in Everest. Warren was a member of American Legion Post 288 of Everest. Warren enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening in his spare time.

Warren is also survived by a daughter, Margaret and husband Ed Berger of Everest, KS, son, Steve and wife Renee of Fremont, NE, grandchildren, Tina and husband Robert Shield of Leeds, England, Craig and wife Sarah Bunck of McKinney, TX, Erin and husband Roy Foster of Lansing, KS, Todd and wife Lisa Berger of LaVista, NE, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Wakeman.

Funeral Services are planned for 10:30 a.m., September 19, 2017 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary of Horton, KS. Pastor Traci Matherly will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at the Miller Cemetery. Friends may call the Mortuary after 10 a.m. Monday, where the family will greet friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. that evening. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 288 of Everest, KS and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary 909 Central Ave, Horton, KS 66439.
